What can I expect in my first session?
In the first session I like to better understand what is bringing you to counseling. I want to learn more about your background and history. I may ask some questions in the first session to better understand what would be most helpful to you and what you would like to gain from our time together. It is also your time to see how you feel talking to me and determine if you want to continue with further sessions.
Do you accept insurance?
I am currently in network with Aetna, Cigna, Anthem (BCBS), United Healthcare, Oscar Health and Oxford.
I utilize Headway to manage my billing and admin work. I also accept cash pay if you do not want to bill your insurance.
My cash pay fee is $125 per session.
What types of clients do you serve?
I work with adults, including young adults, especially those going through any type of transition in life which can cause stress. My expertise is in helping people reduce overall symptoms of traumatic stress (PTSD), anxiety, including obsessive-compulsive disorder and social anxiety, depression, grief and loss, self-confidence and relationship issues. I also have a lot of experience working with the LGBTQ+ population, especially those who experience sexual and gender identity issues. I currently only serve clients virtually and do not provide any in person services.
Who is a candidate for virtual sessions / tele-mental health?
While I would love to support everyone who seeks counseling, there are limitations to who can be treated virtually.
You are NOT a candidate for tele-mental health counseling at Mindful Care Counseling, if you are currently endorsing suicidal or homicidal thoughts with an active plan or intent, attempted suicide in the past year, admitted into a psychiatric hospital for mental health challenges in the last year, or currently experiencing hallucinations (hearing or seeing things that are not there). . Do you counsel individuals working through addiction or recovery??
At this time, I have not completed addiction counseling training, therefore, I do not feel I can provide the depth of service to individuals with severe alcohol, substance abuse or active eating disorders who may need specialized care.
Do you provide couples counseling or group therapy?
At this time, I do not provide couples counseling or group therapy.
